Traffic on the thoroughfare appears to have increased substantially since SCA first started keeping records back in 2009 (the USFS first studied recreational use in the region in 1996). The SCA has participated in various breakwater repair permit reviews and calls for dredging since 1993. We are currently represented on the 2016-2017 review committee by Board Member Bruce Yocum.

In 2016 we deployed remote cameras along the waterbody to try and gain a better sense of how many watercraft are using the channel, and to document wake zone violations.

In 2017 we hope to expand our water sampling program to include the channel itself and Caribou Creek, which may be contributing to the sediment load seen at the confluence of the thoroughfare with the lower lake.
